Free cookie banner checker
Paste a URL below. We'll load it before anyone touches the banner, click Reject All, and tell you what actually changed — not just whether a banner is on the page.
What we check
- Trackers firing before consent. Every third-party request the page makes on first load, before any interaction — the state a real first-time visitor is in for the first second or more of every visit.
- Whether Reject All is honored. We reload after clicking Reject All and compare the third-party requests, cookies and storage keys against the pre-consent state. A banner that works stops most of them; one that doesn't, doesn't.
- Whether a banner is present at all. Some sites in some jurisdictions ship no consent mechanism whatsoever. We record that plainly rather than assuming one exists.
What this is not
This is a technical check of what your site's browser behavior actually does, not legal advice about what any regulation requires of your specific site and audience. Sasquatch Privacy provides technical privacy observations and is not legal advice.
Questions
- What does a cookie banner checker actually check?
- It loads your site the way a real visitor does, before anyone has clicked anything, and records which third-party trackers already fired. Then it clicks Reject All and reloads, and records the same thing again. If the second list isn't meaningfully shorter than the first, your banner is cosmetic.
- Why would a cookie banner not block anything?
- Most cookie banners are consent-management widgets bolted on top of tags that were already firing — Google Tag Manager, ad pixels, analytics — installed independently. Unless those tags are wired to actually wait for a consent signal, clicking Reject All only hides the banner. It doesn't touch the trackers.
- Is a cookie banner legally required?
- That depends on your jurisdiction and audience, and we're not a law firm — this tool reports what your site technically does, not what the law requires of it. Talk to counsel for the legal question; use this to check the technical one.
- Does this check Global Privacy Control (GPC)?
- The free scan includes a basic check: does the page's tracking behavior change when the browser sends the Sec-GPC: 1 signal, the same way it changes for Reject All? The full audit checks this in more depth, on more pages.
